Hey, I’m back! I have not yet posted pictures of my projects this year, other than my intermedia video.
So, here is a piece that I created with plaster last semester (fall 2007) in Sculpture I. It is an eyeball that is melting. The assignment was to make something that was distorted somehow. This was the first thing that came to mind:
After I was done presenting it to the class, I had no desire to keep it. At all. It had sucked up too much of my life, and was not terribly well done (by my standards. I wanted to make it more realistic…). So, to exact my revenge, I pulled it back to the studio:
And then stuck it outside, on the side of the building.
Well, time makes fools of us all, and I hoped that the same held true for behemoths of plaster. I was not dissapointed. Winter weather hit:
And then that Ice storm came and took its toll:
When everything started to thaw, it was not a pretty site:
I’ve decided to turn this into a process piece, and will continue to take pictures as it rots (as long as it’s still there). By the way, the big wooden cross next to it is also mine from a project I shall be posting a little later.
Update: Well, it’s finally gone.
